Every mother experiences a moment before delivery when she feels trapped, longing to escape the impending travail ahead. In that tumultuous instant, she realizes that she alone must navigate this journey; there is no other way.
Amid feelings of fear and panic, a deeper search for strength begins—not from within, but from Heaven. In that moment, faith is born, courage emerges, and a resolve to face the impossible takes shape with divine assistance.
This painting is my tribute to Mary, an attempt at capturing the emotions she must have had to conquer as she prepared to travel to Bethlehem. With her time drawing near, leaving behind comfort and family support, she was about to bring the Child of God into the world.
